Sugar + Salt Bakeshoppe is a long time dream turned reality for owner Kayla Milligan. A home grown prairie girl who is passionate about Winnipeg + the amazing small business community in the city.

The journey has been winding, long and not always easy but the best things in life never are.

Kayla has been designing, baking and decorating cakes for 10 years. Although most of her skillset is self taught, she studied at the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary Arts in Toronto where her passion for all things cake design grew and she started her first business Laugh Love Cakes in 2012. Fully intending to open a storefront in 2016, life had other plans. After 5 years of running Laugh Love Cakes, Kayla found herself at a cross roads and took up an opportunity to move to London UK to study fashion marketing and communications a Conde Naste College. While studying in London, she knew that her heart was still firmly planted in Winnipeg and the city, people and her love for cake design + baking brought her back home.

A new chapter and + fresh start back home meant a fresh start to her baking career as well and a two years after her return to Winnipeg, Sugar + Salt Bakeshoppe came to life.

Sugar + Salt is an extension of Kayla’s heart + personality, combined with her love for all things pretty + sweet. This bakeshoppe is bigger than her, a community helped her build it and in it’s new home in the heart of Corydon a community will be built around it to enjoy for years to come.
